Actually, Additional District Magistrate Gurdaspur Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi took a big decision and declared 30th August as a dry day in Batala city in view of the holy marriage day of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.The District Magistrate has taken this decision using the powers conferred under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act-1914 and Rule 37(9) of the Punjab Liquor License. Along with this, the Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab Government issued a letter today and approved this decision.According to these orders, all desi and English liquor shops within the limits of Municipal Corporation Batala will remain closed tomorrow, August 30. During this time, the sale and storage of alcohol will also be completely banned. Along with this, this order will be applicable to all hotels, clubs and premises of Batala city. According to the district administration, strict action will be taken against those who violate these orders under the Punjab Excise Act.
